espeakup software package provides Connector between speakup kernel modules and espeak, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install espeakup
espeakup is installed in your system.
Make ensure the espeakup package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep espeakup *
You will get with espeakup package name, version, architecture and description in a table
